Inside Mounted Columbus Plantation Shutters
Now that you have chosen to purchase Columbus
Plantation Shutters, you will need to measure your
window opening properly. Getting the right
measurements will assure you of a great fit when the
product arrives.
You should gather a few things before starting this
process. Have a metal measuring tape with markings
in 1/16th of an inch or in millimeters as it will
give you the accuracy needed for a good fit.
Alternately, you can also use a laser to take the
guesswork out of reading a tape properly.
When measuring more than a couple of windows, name
or number them so you know how to reference them
when ordering and installing them. List the location
on a piece of paper. Have the paper and writing
utensil with you for all notations.
If you will have a large span of window and are not
using a laser, you will need another person to help
you. One or the other person will hold one end of
the tape while the other reads the tape. Check your
numbers two or three times or have a second person
backup your readings.
If you desire to have the shutters mounted inside
the glazed opening, first measure diagonally corner
to corner in both directions. If there is a 1/4 to
1/2 inch (6.35 mm to 1.27 mm), difference between
the measurements your window is out of square. Make
sure you are able to get the correct mounting frame
that will allow you to adjust the blinds to reduce
light bleed.
Decide if you will be mounting close to the window
or further out toward the frame. Take readings from
the mount area. For width read at the top, middle,
and bottom points. For height read at left, center,
and right points. Round the readings down to the
nearest tape mark. When ordering give the smallest
measurements.
Columbus Plantation Shutters will have a retail
stores near you. If you have any question about
ordering or are not comfortable taking your own
numbers, search online for a reputable company that
will help you. A company representative will be
happy to help you throughout your purchase.
